My story

I’ve been taking pictures since I was eleven, long before I ever thought of myself as a photographer.

I used to sneak my Mom’s Canon out of the closet for what I called special occasions, which usually meant any ordinary Saturday that felt important enough to remember. I didn’t need a reason. I just knew certain moments felt worth keeping.

At the same time, I was always the one bringing things together.

Family gatherings, holidays, talent shows, celebrations of any kind. I naturally took on the role of organizer and planner. I made sure people knew where to be, what was happening next, and that everything flowed in a way that felt easy and fun. I cared deeply about how moments felt, not just how they looked.

Today, whether I am photographing a moment, planning an event, or creating content, my approach remains the same. I notice details. I anticipate needs. I know when to guide and when to step back so moments can unfold on their own.

How I Work

I approach every project with care and structure. I believe the best results come from preparation paired with flexibility, allowing moments to unfold naturally without feeling forced.

I value clear communication, thoughtful planning, and an environment where people feel comfortable and understood. My role is to guide when needed, step back when appropriate, and ensure every detail supports the overall experience.

How I See Things

My photography is candid and documentary in nature. I focus on observing rather than directing, allowing moments to unfold naturally as they happen. I pay attention to the in-between moments. The glances, the pauses, the quiet interactions that often go unnoticed.

I offer gentle guidance when needed, but my goal is never to overproduce. I want the images to feel honest and lived in, reflecting people as they truly are rather than how they think they should look.

I believe the most meaningful photographs come from comfort and trust. When people feel at ease, the moments take care of themselves.

A Brief Timeline

I began working in restaurants and country clubs, learning hospitality from the ground up. I was trained in both front and back of house operations, from formal service standards to behind-the-scenes coordination. Assisting with large-scale events taught me how thoughtful service, timing, and attention to detail shape the guest experience.

2012

I entered nursing school and worked bedside patient care. While the experience strengthened my empathy and resilience, it also exposed the physical and emotional demands placed on healthcare professionals. Over time, the expectation to absorb mistreatment from patients, colleagues, and leadership made it clear that the environment was unsustainable, leading me to step away from healthcare and reassess where I could do my best work.

2016

I transitioned into a corporate career, gaining experience in structure, systems, and professional operations. While it strengthened my organizational skills, it also clarified the importance of purpose in my work.

2020

After a period of quiet reflection, I began to separate who I truly was from who I had been trying to be for others. I returned to what felt natural. Creating moments of joy, paying attention to them, and preserving them with care. From that clarity, Woodburn & Co. was born as a space for meaningful work shaped by intention and the simple importance of capturing happiness as it unfolds.
